What is Energy Medicine Yoga?
I have a wise and wonderful Iyengar teacher in NYC who would strategically ask us to stand in Tadasana half a dozen times throughout a 2 hour class. These exactingly placed mountains served as an opportunity 'to hold' the effect of our practices in the energetic body.
She would come over to us and indicate where 'a leak' might be present -- in me, my floating rib cage often protruded not only from over flexibility but also a tendency to compress the posterior body's adrenal glad counterparts, my kidneys.
This was how and when I first learned to honor Yoga as Energy Medicine. Every pose, action, transition and breath in a skillful practice has a direct energetic correlation.
My own self-practices as such encompass more than one technique. And how I approach a practice depends on the day, the time of day, my cycle, awareness of what is happening in my life.
Using a combination of Yin, Restorative, Iyengar, Therapeutic and, when applicable, moderately paced Vinyasa Yoga methods, these sessions are based on an overall energetic impression/reading amongst the room's practitioners. Individual sessions are also available in conjunction with visioning/coaching work via my company "Project Manifest Integrative Wellness Systems". 4:15PM - 5:25PM Saint Paul Yoga Center: Adaptive/Chair Yoga -- Experience the same benefit of standing postures, only seated. Ideal for injury recovery, range of motion limitation, or accessing a more gentle class. All levels welcome.
FRIDAY
10:50AM-12:20PM Saint Paul Yoga Center: Smart Asana --Yoga Asana (postures) honoring our body's innate intelligence. All levels welcome.
