I am a native New Yorker who relocated to the Twin Cities in November 2009. In November 2010, I gave birth to healthy, joyful twin boys. (Must have been the new city?)
I have been practicing Yoga since 1991 and teaching Yoga since 2003. I received my first teaching certification from OM Yoga NYC in 2004 and have supplemented this with Prenatal Yoga, Yin Yoga, Anatomy, and Yoga Therapy training's since then. Upon departing from NYC, I was studying with Genny Kapuler at the Iyengar Institute and still return to New York intermittently for her teaching. I am excited to be studying with Judith Lasater for a Yoga Therapy and Anatomy Training at the Minneapolis Yoga Center in June 2012.
Although I initially began practicing Yoga in the Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga traditions, a car accident (as a pedestrian) in 2004 caused me to reestablish how I practice and to embark upon the exploration of Yoga as more of a therapeutic and restorative vehicle. My teaching style especially incorporates a blend of Iyengar and Vinyasa techniques in classroom settings, and an approach that strives to custom tailor a Yoga practice for the individual in private instruction.
I hold a BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in Drama. I am a writer of poems, songs and a thing or two peripheral/in between. I have been working on a memoir since 2009 under the initial tutelage of Nick Flynn.
